Today I learned that one of the only non-recorded Grateful Dead shows ever was a benefit for the black panther party, organized after Jerry Garcia met Huey Newton on a 1970 NY to CA flight

Dog names really are signifiers without a signified aren't they, they have no idea what they mean

this is not unexpected with how corporate-feeling the whole thing is (both the game with its many microtransactions and the event with items like "Assume Nothing by they.") but lmao

Show thread

i just think it's really funny that the secondlife-esque game that happens to be a nostalgic one for me literally has a pride event going right now, and yet it still divides every character into male or female with comically exaggerated "gender features" (and also all thin ofc)

:blobthinking: believing that people have True Names - hokey but understandable

:blob_gnikniht: believing that each person has a single True Name - unduly limiting but not impossible

:hot_shit: :oh_no: believing that a person's One True Name is whatever a government registry has on their records - the perfect blend of authoritarian and bureaucratic

christianity thoughts, queerphobia

there's sometimes talk in homophobic christian circles about how "the gays stole the rainbow from god" or w/e

and ofc this isn't "the crux of their argument" for queerphobia, there's no argument

but as a rebuttal to the also common idea of "the world's problems are divine retribution for all this decadence of the modern world (ie queer people)" the rainbow actually makes so much sense. "there won't be another great flood" and all

as always, kind of sad that this place gradually got emptier

but hey, i also vanished mysteriolsly around the same time
(where mysteriously = even i don't know why)

anyways, got reminded of a story I read sometime in the past, where, along with other weird things,
a demon steals the moon (for a little while).

and, y'know? Stealing the moon is a mood. i wanna steal the moon
