Dad life, house design
I do not like open floor plan houses with cavernous rooms. I do not like houses with definite rooms, but no doors. A house needs doors so your toddler can be kept in eye sight and doesn't scale the stairs in a second.
However, big pocket doors, the type that 19th and early 20th century homes in my area were built with, achieve this well while still keeping the potential for not feeling closed in when you don't need that. I wish we still built houses with pocket doors.
